Co-curation

Part of the Monument City Festival is completed in collaboration with the Polish Up To Date Festival.

Thanks to the support of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants, Monument cooperates with Up To Date Festival in the course of the project entitled “Co-curating Electronic Music for the Polish and Norwegian Music Market”, exchanging experiences and presenting artists from their region at their events. The aim of the project is to support and provide new opportunities to Polish, Norwegian and Ukrainian electronic music artists and music initiatives operating at the periphery of bigger cultural hubs.

Behaviour

We treat each other like family. We behave respectfully, help each other when needed, and give hugs when they are wanted. We definitely do not take things that do not belong to us, jump the queue or harass anyone for any reason.

Respect each other and the dance floor. We have zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism or any other form of discrimination.

Drugs and intoxication

We don’t want heavily intoxicated persons on the premises, and have zero tolerance for illegal substances / drugs. Staff members, guards and volunteers shall actively seek to clarify guests’ level of intoxication through polite and friendly conversation, and report to the head of security upon suspicion. Any persons not complying with this will have their wrist band removed, and be removed from the festival area.

Emergency procedure

In the unlikely event of an emergency our staff will guide you from the building to the assigned safe meeting point.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

Monument is committed to providing equal opportunities and fair treatment to all parties, regardless of: race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, and or any other protected status. Festival partners

The festival is supported by our partners:

Permits

We have all the necessary approvals for the festival. Operating legally is part of our definition of sustainability.

No-Photo Policy

The festival has a no-photo policy. Only authorized photographers may take photos.

An important aspect of being able to let go, immerse fully into the music, and staying present, is the amount of (phone)cameras being used during an event. Even though we understand the urge to capture and share a wonderful moment, we kindly ask you to take a minute and reflect on how distracting it can be as well. We do our best to create an experience that will stay with you and inspire you long after the four days of the festival is over. Leaving the camera in your pocket might make it easier for all of us to be in the here and now.

Prohibited items

You may not bring any of these items into the festival:

  • Alcoholic drinks + other liquids (you can get drinking water for free at the festival)
  • Weapons
  • Drugs/illegal substances
  • Animals/pets
  • Glass objects (bottles, glasses etc.)
  • Spray paint
  • Megaphones, speakers or other noisy objects
  • Umbrellas and other pointy objects

Questions?

Do you have any questions? Use the festival event page on Facebook or mail.

SafeSpace

SafeSpace is a supportive space for guests undergoing challenging experiences that can result from substance use or over-stimulation. We acknowledge that despite a clearly stated non-drug policy, attendees can still consume illicit substances. Some may experience adverse emotional and psychological reactions, for which harm reduction principles of compassion, safety, and psychological first-aid are applied to reduce negative consequences and de-escalate situations. A team of health professionals and volunteers will supervise SafeSpace and offer guests a space to rest, hydrate, and catch up with electrolytes, snacks, and other supplies to help them have a more comfortable experience.

Smoking

There will be a smoking area outside of the venue. Smoking inside is strictly forbidden.

Sustainability

In all areas of the festival we strive to become more sustainable. This year, we are adding our stainless-steel cups to avoid using single-use plastic. These will be available for purchase at the venue for the festival.

Monument has a broad definition of sustainability. Recycling, waste management, green energy and reusable cups are obvious components, but we also include other factors that may not be directly associated with the term:

  • Fun: We as organisers want to have fun, and after the festival we want to be able to commit to doing it again and again
  • Legal: We operate legally, with all the necessary permits, and we pay our taxes
  • Safe: Everybody should feel safe at our events and nobody should get injured or harmed. We know the risks involved, we speak openly about them and we manage them carefully.

Financial aid

If you struggle financially and can’t afford to pay the full ticket price, write us an email and we will provide you with a code for a reduced ticket price. This is trust based.

Toilets

There will be clean and functional festival toilets right next to the main entrance.

Transportation

The main venue is here, easily accessible by bike and public transportation (Nydalen stop).

If you don’t have your own bike, you can rent one for free thanks to our partner Oslo Bysykkel. Use the code “OSLOVE” for a 24 hour voucher. To use the code, you need to first register, then click “buy 24hr pass”, then insert the code: OSLOVE

Volunteering

Make a difference by volunteering. As part of the Monument Family, you’ll be integral to creating a memorable experience for everyone attending the festival. This is a great way to connect with new people, increase your network, and give back to the community. Read more and sign up here.

Wardrobe

There will be an unserviced wardrobe with limited capacity. Use at your own risk. Or bring a tote bag or back pack to carry your stuff with you.
