“There is some kind of a sweet innocence in being human- in not having to be just happy or just sad- in the nature of being able to be both broken and whole, at the same time.”

How would a robot study the nonverbal communication patterns of a human being: Would it aim to mimic tonal shifts within the natural rhythms of a conversation? Or would it focus on specific words that reveal different human reactions. This investigating act of self education from the perspective of artificial intelligence, can describe the tonal language of Reeko’s album: Dualidad (Mental Disorder Rec)

We all know Reeko to be a prime connoisseur on the topic of experimentation within music, but Dualidad takes this a step further. Throughout the album, you’ll notice the constant struggle between a number of imperfect melodies aiming to “sing” together. Think of these melodies as artificial speaking voices; various rhythmic tonal shifts that are interacting with each other in conversation. As these voices rise and fall, they tend to lose their tightness, accenting them in a way only another intelligence can. Over time, these voices learn how perfect their communication techniques and mimic the tonal language of human beings. Reeko captures this example perfectly by use of universal “noise” against the softness of a light song. In other words, the dissonance that fights with harmony

The important take away from this album is to gaze upon the beauty of symbiosis within a computer and a human being. After surpassing a period of training, us as anthropoids have learned the power to become one with robotic assistants such as cell phones, laptops, and smart watches – This has made our lives quicker and easier, but there is another side of the coin. Reeko’s talents on this album show us how intelligent beings can deal with that other side- conflict and struggle. These nuances in Dualidad presents us the journey of building a relationship with an outside power, from a investigative mindset.

Shut your mind off, have a seat, and immerse yourselves within this album. This is the best way to become one with these recordings.
