Dub Monitor is a new YouTube channel focused on track digging in the deep/dub techno and ambient music genres. The videos follow the format of “guided tours” through small slices of electronic music history with curated tracks and commentary by Altstadt Echo(aka St. Concrete), a Berlin-based producer and former music journalist.
In their first video, they dug into the mystery of what happened to the legendary techno label Prologue, who suddenly shut down at the peak of their success with no announcement or explanation. Their next video is about the 20-year running ambient music compilation series released by German label Kompakt. Future videos will dig into the artists and labels that have formed the bedrock of deeper electronic music over the last three decades.
