It took some time and effort, but with support from our followers and friends we finally reached a milestone number with our podcast series! For this episode we present Coeter, a passionate DJ and techno music artist who is the head of Kaputt [Germany]. In this story we find out how he started, his inspiration behind the club concept Fokus and the making of Monument Podcast #100.

“I’m Coeter (32 years old) from northern Germany. Born between Hamburg and Berlin i always felt the heartbeat of both scenes. I started producing at 15 (with reason 1.0, propellerhead :D). I worked in Munich in a studio but decided to study in Kiel because in Hamburg or Berlin I would party to much. I visited Berlin very often and found two labels with Berlin and international Friends that lived there. We organised label nights in Berlin and in Europe; Paris, Prague, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Hamburg.”

I didn’t like Kiel and i kept traveling every weekend till I realized that every city or scene had issues Not only in Kiel. I decided to give Kiel a chance and started small underground bunker raves. It was good and was getting bigger till the first flub offered me a techno night. I brought some friends who I have been working with. The club was packed.

Eventually I got an offer at the best Club in town called Luna. The place had better sound and a bigger floor. They asked for a concept. My idea of Fokus was born! We focus on the sound of industrial Techno. We already had guests like Ostgut Ton’s Ryan Elliott, Florian Meindl from Flash rec (Where I also released Ep’s).

So tell us the story about this recording…

On the 25th March 2016 (Good Friday) our main guest was on Answer Code Request (Ostgut Ton, MDR) and had a great experience once again again. I played a special warm up for him. On Good Friday people were not allowed to dance between 0 – 2 by law so we opened the Club and I played piano, ambient and dub on the upper floor where the club has couches, bar, Nintendo and table tennis. It was full and with a great vibe. Everybody wanted to move. 2 o’clock we finally opened the club downstairs. My warm up ended with techno, so ACR Could take over Luna Club and Kiel. At the end my partner Trivmph (Ressort Imprint) took care of the crowd.

This set is kind of a reflection of the night and showing modern techno in one of the most northern cities of Germany where you can find techno. Kiel is about to get in the Spotlight of the scene with all I did the last 10 years. Kaputt Musik is a good label and our releases are played in clubs like Berghain and so on. This mix is a trip from ambient over Dub Tech, to modern Techno (incl. an unreleased production of me for Florian Meindl´s Flash Rec) and back to deep drone Techno and and experimental outro.

I hope you feel it!”
